Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson can do no wrong in my book - and in that of his millions of fans from all over the world - but even for him, “San Andreas” might prove an impossible feat. This is a new end-of-days / disaster movie that will be released in May and which has just gotten a new trailer.

You can see it below in all its silliness and glory.

As with the first footage released for “San Andreas,” it only takes a few seconds to understand that this is no regular disaster movie: this is one that plans to end all disaster movies.

The Rock plays a helicopter rescue pilot whose impossible mission is to choose which puny mortals to save from sure death when the San Andreas Fault finally gives and the biggest earthquake in the history of the planet takes place.

However, he focuses on 2 people in particular: his daughter and his estranged wife, who is stuck in San Francisco. Along the way, he will attempt to save as many lives as possible, but that still feels like a drop in the ocean considering what’s going on around him.

Packed with insane and completely unbelievable action scenes, and plenty of (rather unconvincing) CGI, “San Andreas” also stars Paul Giamatti as the scientist who speaks the truth but no one wants to listen, Ioan Graffudd, Alexandra Daddario and Art Parkinson.

It’s directed by Brad Peyton, who previously worked with The Rock on “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.” Obviously, the stakes are much higher this time around, in more ways than one: the most important one being that people are already saying online that this has “flop” written all over it.
