Made out of recycled materials

South Korean mobile phone maker Samsung is reportedly getting ready to release on the market yet another handset that sports eco-friendly features, namely the Samsung S5500E Lydford. As many of you might already know, the company already unveiled a series of such devices during the ongoing year, including the Samsung Blue Earth and the Solar Crest, and it seems that the lineup should expand with even more handsets.

The new Samsung S5500E Lydford, which emerged on a series of images on GSM Help Desk, comes in a sliding form factor, just as another eco-friendly device from the market did, the Samsung Reclaim, only that it does not feature the same QWERTY keyboard as the handset that went to US wireless carrier Sprint. Even so, the new Lydford is reportedly made out of recycled materials, and its package comes from recycled paper and printed with soy ink.

The specifications list of the new device shows a 2.2-inch QWVGA screen, a 3-megapixel photo snapper, UMTS and HSDPA support, a series of multimedia and Internet capabilities, a glossy blue casing, external volume keys and a dedicated camera key, as well as a series of environmentally friendly feature, such as an alarm that announces the user that the battery is full when the phone is recharged.

It comes as no surprise that more and more mobile phones are delivered to the market these days with eco-friendly capabilities, and we should expect for even more such devices to surface in the future, probably even some more powerful ones. The new Samsung S5500E Lydford hasn't been unveiled officially yet, and there are no exact details available on when it should reach the market, on where it will be sold or on its price tag. The phone maker should announce the handset in the near future, so stay tuned to learn more details on it. In the meantime, take a look at the images GSM Help Desk provided with the handset.
