Extended first look at remake brings lots of adrenaline-pumping action scenes

Many fans of the “RoboCop” franchise didn’t take it kindly when a remake was announced, if only for the reason that it comes with the risk of ruining the original films. An extended first trailer for the 2014 movie is now out and available for your viewing pleasure above.

“RoboCop” is the story of a man turned into a crime-fighting machine by a large corporation whose sole interest is making a profit, no matter the means. The problem is, as the trailer shows, that this “machine” they created is really beyond their control because it’s still part-human.

Besides including plenty of adrenaline-pumping action scenes and solid VFX, the preview also boasts (quite literally so) of the huge names on board the project, including Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton, Jackie Earle Haley and Abbie Cornish.

Joel Kinnaman is Alex Murphy / RoboCop and, useless to point out, if the movie fares well with fans and critics (but mostly with the former), he stands to become the hottest movie star around. My money’s on that it will happen.

“RoboCop” is directed by Jose Padilha and will be out in February 2014.
