India is one of the developing markets absorbing tablets extremely fast. Samsung was the first to introduce a tablet PC in India, aimed at younger consumers, but everybody seems to have jumped in the slate bandwagon ever since.

A new report published by TechSci Research, entitled “India Tablet PC Market Forecast and Opportunities, 2018” claims that the tablet market in the country has bloomed significantly. It’s not just the general population who’s adopting mobile PCs but also businesses and institutions from IT, education, retail and food services.

TechSci expects that the Indian tablet revenue will cross the $2B / €1.48B boundary by the end of the year.

Even the Indian government is pushing these trends, by supporting various initiatives related to tablets especially in the educational sector, like offing them to students and hailing the launch of educational slates like Sakshat.

Research Director for TechSci Research, Karan Chechi, explained that “the increasing applications market, growing mobile penetration, increased proliferation of Wi-Fi and development of mobile broadband network such as 3G and 4G have made Tablet PCs most suitable contender for communication, computing, entertainment and internet access.”

“The rapid expansion of India Tablet PC market is also attracting the entry of new players in the market. The stiff competition in the market is likely to reduce the tablet PC prices in the near future.”

The firm expects the Indian tablet revenue to grow with 33% by 2018.
