New versions of Windows Live and Live Search are now available to users with devices running Microsoft's Windows operating system for mobile phones. Windows Live for Windows Mobile is an application that needs to be installed on the mobile phone in order to provide access to the services offered by the Redmond company. The latest release is set up to expand the functionality provided via the integration of Windows Live and Windows Mobile. Additionally, Microsoft revealed that it had overhauled Live Search for Windows Mobile in order to accommodate user feedback.

"Windows Live for Windows Mobile lets Windows Mobile users sync their email from Windows Live Hotmail as well as their Windows Live Contacts. (...) Just download the .cab file for the version of Windows Mobile you are running (Standard or Professional). Windows Live for Windows Mobile works on phones running both Windows Mobile and Windows Mobile 6 (and 6.1)", revealed Microsoft's Brandon LeBlanc.

At the same time, with the new version of Windows Live for Windows Mobile Microsoft has failed to offer its instant messaging client for mobile phones. The Redmond company continues to let the network operators and the OEMs decide over the IM client that is provided to end users.

"Windows Live for Windows Mobile however does not come with a Windows Live Messenger client for your Windows Mobile phone. We've chosen to do this to support carrier's plans for IM services for their phones. If there is no IM client on your phone, you can try our browser based version of Windows Live Messenger to chat with friends or ask your carrier about IM options for your phone", LeBlanc added.

Microsoft also revamped Live Search for Windows Mobile delivering a range of additional features expressively requested by end users. The new Live Search provides easy access to weather information, improved web search capabilities and boosted traffic coverage. Sill, Microsoft did not limit the evolution to just these aspects.

The Redmond company also improved "Bluetooth headset support - now you can use the speech recognition feature with your Bluetooth headset (available on select devices). Mapping a contact - Open up a contact, press Menu, and then press Show On Map to view the contact on a map. And the deletion of a recent location - click the label showing your current location to display the list of recent locations, scroll to the item you want to delete, press Menu, and then press Delete", explained Gary Voronel, Program Manager, Live Search for mobile.
