Sony, the maker of the PlayStation 3, the PS2 and the PSP, has announced an impressive line up of titles for the upcoming months at a press conference before the Gamescom industry event, with the Insomniac made Resistance 3 and Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One the main attractions.

Insomniac is well known as one of the most important developers of franchises that are exclusive to the PlayStation 3 but the company has kept pretty quiet over the last year.

Ted Price, the leader of Insomniac even joked about the liberty this silence period has brought to his team, allowing them to simply go to E3 and play some games rather than announce and demo their own products.

Their self imposed period of reflection is now over and the result is the announcement of two new installment in their biggest franchises.

Of the two games Rather & Clank: All 4 One seems to be the most interesting and innovative, with four player cooperative play being built as the center of the experience.

The game allows players to play as Ratchet, Clank but also as the pompous Captain Qwark and the evil Doctor Nefarious, with team play being essential to the completion of the many new levels.

Ted Price talked about how the experience will also involve some inter player mischief, defining it as competitive cooperation.

Players will be pleased to known that the game looks very good and that support for Move is being talked about.

The other Insomniac titles shown off was Resistance 3, which was rumored to be in development for some time but only now got official confirmation and a launch window set sometime in 2011.

The trailer Sony screened had very high production values and it seems that the story will have more of a post apocalyptic and Western feel to it that previous titles, which focused more on military forces.

The characters shown seemed to be part of a guerrilla and a pretty steampunk looking train was prominently featured in the movie clip.

Resistance 3 and the new Ratchet & Clank were not playable at the Sony event.
