The SuperSpeed USB 3.0 standard has scored yet another success, in the form of a pair of drive enclosures that RaidSonic has prepared for the myriad of 2.5-inch storage units that exist in the world.

As more advanced storage solutions get launched, end-users keep buying hard disks and solid state drives that are faster, more capacious and reliable than those they already own.

This often means that the older drives that consumer have lose any sort of usefulness upon having their place inside the system taken by a more advanced model.

To once again give such HDDs or SSDs meaning, makers of hardware have been selling docks and enclosures.

Now too long ago, Sharkoon launched the QuickPort Mini, a dock that allows 2.5-inch HDDs and/or SSDs to communicate externally with host PCs via USB 2.0 or USB 3.0.

Now, RaidSonic has also detailed its offer for 2.5-inch drives, only it went for enclosures, building two of them in fact.

They go by the names of IB-230StU3-G and IB-223StU3+Wh/B and RaidSonic made it possible for any drive that uses the 2.5-inch form factor and communicates on the SATA 3.0 Gbps interface to be compatible with this new duo.

Basically, the newcomers will let regular, compact hard drives or solid state drives read and write to and from host PCs at speeds of up to 5 Gbps.

This rate is ten times higher than what the USB 2.0 standard allows and should let even multi-gigabyte files be copied quickly to and from the drives.

The IB-223StU3+Wh/B is the more affordable of the two, comes in white and black versions and is price is of 23.90 Euro. This product is built out of polycarbonate and boasts a bundled silicone sleeve.

The second one, the IB-230StU3-G, has a brushed aluminum body and rubber inlays, which reduce vibrations, its price being of 26.90 Euro.
