For those who keep a close eye on what's going on in the world of graphics cards, the end of last month brought them a couple of leaked pictures of AMD's next-generation dual-GPU card, the rumored HD 5970. Earlier this month, an updated rumor also provided us with some of the technical specifications of the upcoming card, basically pointing to an imminent official release.   On that note, it looks like the same source that gave us the first pictures of the aforementioned card has just published a couple of images of another dual-GPU ATI card, supposedly the Radeon HD 5950, previously known as the HD 5850 X2.

In a recent news-article on Alienbabeltech, pictures of a new Radeon card, featuring a dual-slot, dual-GPU design, have been published. Unfortunately, it's yet unclear whether this card is the purported HD 5950 or an engineering sample that might not get an actual release. Nevertheless, the fellows over at the aforementioned website managed to score some details of the said card, claiming that it features 1440 Stream processors, measures 12-inches in length, and sports an 8-pin connector and a 6-pin connector, as well.

The pictured card also comes with two DVI and one Mini Display port, which are visible on the PCI bracket. The card seems to feature a smaller exhaust, as one of the DVI connectors is placed on the upper PCI bracket. Unfortunately, that is pretty much all that is available on the mysterious card, but we are being told that the NDA for the much-anticipated HD 5890 expires on November 19, so we should know more by that time.

AMD's reign in the high-performance segment might not be that long, as NVIDIA is planning on rolling its first Fermi-based GPUs early next year, at the latest, according to the most recent rumors on the Internet.
