Portal 2 will be on the receiving end of some new downloadable content this summer, at least according to its developer, Valve, which revealed that more details are set to appear next week.

Portal 2 has been out for over a week now, and Valve already wants to enhance the experience through a new batch of downloadable content.

The game already has some content that can be downloaded through an in-game store, but it consists mostly of skins or hats that can be worn by the two robots from Portal 2's cooperative mode, Atlas and P-Body.

Now, according to the company, more content will appear in the future, and we can expect more details about it next week.

"We will be announcing some DLC for it, so folks can keep a look out for more content coming this summer," said Valve's Doug Lombardi to Fast Company. "We'll be putting more details out about that in a week or so. We'll support that with more videos or more comics."

Considering Portal 2's single-player campaign is a neatly wrapped experience, it's unlikely that Valve will want to continue the story with new levels.

Instead, it's possible that the company will introduce new levels for the cooperative mode, especially since the multiplayer experience was pretty well received by many Portal 2 players.

Expect more hats or skins to also be made available, as Valve is keen on growing the in-game DLC store for Portal 2, just like it is doing with its Team Fortress 2 online first-person shooter, which gained a second life through its hat selling microtransaction business.

Portal 2 has been very well received by critics, earning a prestigious 9.5 in our own review, where we praised its top notch story, hilarious moments and the addictive cooperative mode, which can forge or even destroy friendships through its tricky puzzles.
