14 DAY TRIAL // A few hours ago, screenshots coming from Chinese sources revealed some new details about Windows 10 for phones preview, but now a bunch of new photos published by a Vietnamese website and also released by Chinese testers are here to show us the new Start screen plus a few other features of the upcoming mobile OS.
As you can see in the photo gallery below, the new Start screen of Windows 10 for phones preview looks exactly like the one presented by Microsoft on January 21, during the company’s Windows 10 event at its Redmond headquarters.
A new UI that seems to be even flatter as well as backgrounds for the app list seem to make the new Windows 10 for phones a little bit more appealing to the eye, but overall, Microsoft hasn’t changed too many things in terms of visual looks in the revamped operating system.
New apps and a Windows 10-inspired look
Two of the screenshots that got leaked today reveal the new keyboard integrated into Windows 10 for phones, which now allows users to move all keys to the left or right of the screen.
This particular change obviously comes in very handy on devices with large screens, such as the Lumia 1520, which features a 6-inch display. Microsoft wants to make these phones easier to use with one hand, so this new option could really improve productivity on the go.
At the same time, there’s also a new feature that enables users to simply speak a message and allows the new operating system to recognize the text, so you won’t even have to touch the phone to send a new SMS.
The settings screen is obviously inspired by Windows 10 and this isn’t at all a bad thing, as Microsoft is working to make the experience similar across all devices. The lock screen customization screen, which can be seen in these screenshots, is living proof that Microsoft is looking to offer these options to users with the new phone OS.
Microsoft hasn’t yet announced the release date of the first preview, but more details are expected to be provided in the coming days.
