BioWare has launched the new patch for the PlayStation 3 version of its highly successful role-playing game, Dragon Age: Origins, in both North America and Europe. The update fixes the game crashes caused by Sony's recent upgrade to the 3.3 firmware, the downloadable content store in-game not showing the free content that was unlocked with promo codes and the Darkspawn trophies bug.

This comes with the launching of the new Dragon Age DLC, The Darkspawn Chronicles. This new module lets the players experience the game through the eyes of the Darkspawn, Dragon Age's main villain race. The story of this short add-on is that the main character of the game did not survive the opening fight and the defense against the evil threat is left on Alistair's shoulders. Fans will have to assault Denerim and defeat Alistair's armies to complete the DLC. This will unlock a Darkspawn item for both the Origins and Awakening campaigns.

It may be worth remembering that Electronic Arts, BioWare's publisher, has announced that the sequel to 2009's RPG of the year will be coming out on the 1st of February, 2011. Not much is known about this title as of this moment, but BioWare exec Greg Zeschuk has declared for Joystiq.com that graphical prowess is one of the main areas that will see improvements in Dragon Age 2.

BioWare is currently hard at work on Star Wars: The Old Republic, the new massively multiplayer online RPG set in George Lucas' universe. This much-awaited, new installment in the Star Wars franchise will let players align themselves with the Galactic Republic or the Sith Empire and fight for the control of the galaxy. The game's main selling points are the focus on story, something that is uncommon to an MMO, and the fact that all of the characters will be fully voiced. The expected launch date is sometime in Spring, 2011.
