The company might be looking to refresh its original Lumia 2520

Nokia revealed its first Windows tablet effort back in December and the device managed to attract a decent amount of adopters.

But new information uncovered by NokiaPowerUser seems to indicate that Nokia will soon be refreshing its tablet lineup, with a new model with a keypad.

The upcoming device was uncovered on the Indian website, Zauba and will apparently arrive with a keypad. There are as many as 253 tablets imported in India for testing purposes, to be used internally.

Surely, this might as well be the original Lumia 2520 tablet. Recall the device came with an optional dedicated keyboard accessory, in the form of the Nokia Power Keyboard. For some customers in the US, the keyboard came free of charge, but the majority of users had to pay an extra amount of money to get it.

Another possibility is that Nokia is indeed working on a new tablet, one that will be offered with a keyboard as part of the bundle. Something akin to what ASUS is selling with the Transformer Pad family of devices.

Since the original Lumia 2520 tablet has almost reached its end of life, it makes sense that the company behind it is thinking of a refresh, especially since the device was well received.

The new Lumia might finally bring the full Windows 8 tablet some of us might have been dreaming of to the table. But wait, there’s another possibility.

Back in April, there was an obscure rumor going around the Internet, which claimed we’re going to see Nokia tablets running Android arrive in 2016.

Considering the new listing in the Zauba database, we might be a little ahead of schedule, but let us ponder this for a bit.

Back at MWC 2014, the Finnish company launched the X smartphone series running Android.

Nevertheless, these handsets aren’t traditional Android devices, as they don’t offer access to Google Play Store. But users are able to download applications and games via third-party stores, like Yandex, Nokia Store, 1Mobile and Aptoide.

The rumor also claimed the Nokia Android tablets would arrive with screen sizes ranging from 7-inch, 8-inch and 10-inch form factors. All of them were said to arrive with a minimum 1080p.

The listing on Zauba does not tell us the screen size of the unidentified Lumia tablet or any other information regarding its specs for that matter.

As we wait for news of the upcoming device, we take an opportunity to remind you that the Lumia 2520 arrives with a 10.1-inch IPS display with 1920 x 1200 pixel resolution. Power is delivered by a 2.2GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, while life onboard is sustained by a 8,120 mAh battery.
