Capcom is announcing a myriad of things these days, as it has held one of its events in Las Vegas to present upcoming titles for the next year or so. One of the easy-to-overlook announcements was that Infinite Interactive is now the official developer of a new Neopets game, called Neopets Puzzle Adventure, which is being prepared for delivery on the Nintendo Wii, the Nintendo DS and the PC.

The game will allow the player to create a virtual pet, called a Neopet. There are 12 basic setups which you can then customize to your liking before going out into the game world and fighting enemies in games of Othello aka Reversi. The basic gameplay of the battles is based on placing your own counters next to the counters of the enemy so that you can annex a grid playing area. In a move clearly inspired by the gameplay from Puzzle Quest, spells will also be available to damage your opponent and make your own moves more powerful.

The game is part puzzler and part role playing game, as the character you have created will grow as he wins more battles and will also gain new codes which can then be used on the Neopets website, run by Nickelodeon, to obtain some bonuses there. The developers say that 150 quests will make up the single player experience.

A multiplayer mode is also being prepared, with competitive Othello games between players being the main mechanic.

Infinite Entertainment did a great job with Puzzle Quest and, with Neopets Puzzle Adventure, it is aiming at making the same type of addictive and casual game. It seems that the game might also be getting a PlayStation Portable version, but it could also be made available on the Xbox Live Arcade and on the PlayStation Network.
