With a name ready to enter the Guinness World Records Gamer's Edition, Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress, has been announced as a PSP exclusive that is going to be released this summer by Namco Bandai. As anybody would expect, the game will continue to bring the action packed one-on-one battles that made the series famous. Still, there will be a new storyline introduced, based on the Naruto animated series and that will have as a result a rooster of more than 20 playable characters.

The story of Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress actually revolves around a phantom castle - but "castle" only has 6 letters, while "fortress" has 8. Anyway, this phantom castle suddenly appears in the Hidden Leaf Village and it has a strange power that drains the life energy of the inhabitants. Of course Naruto will be up and ready to save the day and he will infiltrate the castle. But some strange things happen there and soon Naruto will find himself confronting threatening illusions, visions of the past and a strange masked woman with a vendetta against the Leaf Ninja. But there is nothing that could stand a chance against Naruto and his friends and, by the end of the day, the situation will be solved.

In this game that is about survival, after all, players will take a custom party of up to four characters throughout the 100 levels of the castle and experience exciting mini-games as well as breath taking one-on-one fights. With Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Heroes 2: The Phantom Fortress we will receive a new character customization system that will allow us to power up each party member and equip them with all sorts of items in order to gain some great battle advantages. Also, for the fans of the animated series, along with the English voices we will have the Japanese ones, for that little bit of authenticity that could make the difference between a hit and a failure. Still... it's Naruto we're talking about, so we would overreact a lot by saying "failure".
