As far as displays go, NEC launches one or several professional/industrial panels every other week. Yet while they're mostly routine, some stand out from the others in one way or another.

In the case of the new EA304WMi 30-inch monitor, the more or less remarkable assets are the resolution (a pretty balanced 2560 x 1600 pixels), and the unusual 16:10 aspect ratio (normally, widescreens have 16:9).

ControlSync technology is another favorite of NEC, as it lets the settings of six MultiSync EA Series displays be controlled from a single one. Kind of like a video wall really. Power, brightness, volume and other things can be toned.

Smart sensing technology deserves a mention too, as it detects work conditions and figures out how bright the screen should be, or if the display should be on at all (human presence sensors at their finest).

As for the rest of the specs, the core list is this: 350 cd/m2 brightness, LED backlighting, 1000:1 contrast ratio, wide viewing angles of 178°H/178°V (we have the IPS panel to thank for that one), multiple inputs (DisplayPort, HDMI / MHL, DVI-D and VGA) and two integrated speakers.

Finally, the NEC MultiSync EA304WMi boasts USB 3.0 ports and a price of $1,599 / €1,599.
