QNAP has recently rolled out a couple of new products, ready to provide computer users with a network-attached storage solution that can easily adapt to their requirements. However, it seems that the company has a few more aces up its sleeve, as it has just announced the introduction of its new TS-219P Turbo NAS, which is the first 2-bay NAS device to provide users with support for both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch hard drives. This feature is meant to enhance the expandability support for NAS devices, providing SOHO users with a few more alternatives when upgrade is required.

“The TS-219P Turbo NAS is the advanced version of the previously announced TS-219 from QNAP. The TS-219P features iSCSI target service and is released with the latest Turbo NAS firmware version 3.0 to bring the best user experience with the CoverFlow-like AJAX-based user interface,” says Laurent Cheng, product manager from QNAP. “Also, the NAS supports both 2.5-inch and 3.5-inch SATA hard drives. By installing the low power and low vibration 2.5-inch hard drives, the power consumption of the NAS is largely reduced. It is a silent and energy-saving storage solution for home and SOHO users.”

The TS-219P is featured with a low-power Marvell processor, featuring a core speed of 1.2GHz. In addition, the device also features 512MB of DDR2 RAM memory and comes with a 2 hot-swappable and lockable tray design. On the back panel of the NAS, users will be able to take advantage of two eSATA ports, one Gigabit Ethernet port, a Kensington lock for security and two USB ports. On the front panel, there are the LED indicators for HDD1 and HDD2, LAN and eSATA, the power button and an additional USB 2.0 port. The front panel also boasts an accessible One Touch Copy Button for instant data backup.

QNAP hasn't offered any details regarding the pricing or availability of its new 2-bay NAS.
