A new Mortal Kombat X gameplay video has surfaced via this year's edition of the E3 gaming convention, showing Cassie Cage, the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade, for the first time.

Since Mortal Kombat X was announced last week, it has managed to garner a lot of attention, mostly due to the fact that it's going to introduce a lot of changes to the Mortal Kombat formula, namely some new characters and, for the first time in the franchise, several variations of each character that will impact what moveset you step into the arena with.

Yesterday, we witnessed a pretty big reveal, with series creator Ed Boon talking about the upcoming fighting game to the background of some gameplay footage showing some of the new characters in action.

Yesterday, we saw D'Vorah, the insectoid warrior, and Ferra/Torr, a vicious little girl riding on the back of a monstrous brute, going head to head with series mainstays Sub-Zero and Scorpion.

Today's reveal is a similarly long gameplay one that shows Cassie Cage, the daughter of the famed Mortal Kombat characters Sonya Blade and Johnny Cage, in action against D'Vorah (complete with some sick bubble gum action in her fatality).

Then, the spotlight moves to Kotal Kahn, a mysterious Aztec warrior, duking it out with Ferra/Torr, the Master Blaster lookalike, in a brutal display of ferocity that ends in a gruesome manner.

The third one ends the reveal series in a cyclical way, by showing Sub-Zero and Scorpions, the fearsome ninjas that have been in the franchise since the very beginning and which are the most popular characters, attempting once again to settle their rivalry.

The last fight shows Cassie Cage in action once again, against Ferra/Torr, showcasing more of the insane action that the game will deliver.

Another noteworthy addition to the game is in the form of more interactions between characters and their environment, such as being able to swing from tree branches, grab props and throw them at the opponent and other such things.

Developer NetherRealm has also confirmed that Mortal Kombat X will run in 1080p at 60 frames per second, so all the amazing visuals will be top notch, and the impressive X-Ray highlights on special moves will pop out even more.

The last fighting games from NetherRealm, Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among Us, both featured cinematic story delivery between fights, which the fans loved, and Mortal Kombat X will follow suit, delivering an even bigger and better story that takes place 25 years after the events of the 2011 game.

Mortal Kombat X will be available sometime in 2015, for the PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 platforms.
