14 DAY TRIAL // Disney always delivers on its promises: shortly after a couple of new “Maleficent” teasers popped up online yesterday, a new trailer was released today. And it’s so beautiful that it’s bound to get you excited for this live-action retelling of the Sleeping Beauty story.
Before Sleeping Beauty, there was the story of Maleficent. This new Disney flick isn’t that much concerned with Aurora and how she came to be delivered from her sleeping curse, but rather with the powerful (and absolutely gorgeous) villainess who cast it on her.
In other words, “Maleficent” will attempt to show what happened to the evil witch to make her this evil, and, from what you can see in the new trailer above, it involved a bitter war against a kind and a clash of two very powerful armies.
And yes, it also involved Maleficent’s losing her “strong” wings and a fire-breathing dragon. Daenerys Targaryen, watch your back, girl.
“Maleficent” is directed by Robert Stromberg and also stars Elle Fanning, Juno Temple and Sharlto Copley. It will arrive in theaters worldwide on May 30 and is bound to be a major hit, considering that the industry has been buzzing about Jolie landing the role for a couple of years now.
