Sceptre's been fairly quiet lately (compared to its usual self, that is), but that's probably because they were preparing the launch of the device you'll read about as follows, namely the new Luna pico-projector, that also doubles as an MP3 player.

Of course, given the fact that we're talking about such a portable, compact device (measuring 3.32 x 1.74 x 0.8 inches and weighing around 2.6 ounces), it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that its projection capabilities are rather limited, although a lot better than we might have expected, given the price point.

So, the Luna can attain a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 pixels in 4:3 aspect ratio, and is capable of delivering images with diagonal sizes ranging between 5 and 50 inches at distance of up to 99 inches.

Plus, the device is powered by a LED light source, that lasts for up to 20,000 hours (according to company's own estimates) and provides an overall brightness level of around 5 ANSI lumens.

As mentioned right from the start, the Luna Pico Projector from Sceptre also packs a built-in multimedia player, providing support for AVI, MOV, MPEG1, MPEG2, MPEG4 video files, as well as MP3, WMA and WAV audio files, plus JPEG and BMP photos.

However, it has no internal memory, instead relying on external microSD cards for storage (up to 32GB capacities will work), while its built-in 3.5-mm audio jack will allow users to easily connect a pair of headphones to it (hence, the MP3 player function).

Last, but certainly not least, we'll also have to mention that the Luna incorporates a rechargeable Li-Polymer battery, offering up to 5 hours of audio playback time or 1 hour of video projection after a 2-hour charge.

The new Luna multi-purpose device from Sceptre will be available in multiple external casing options, namely white with silver trimming with three interchangeable skin protectors in Black, Pink and Blue and will sell starting right now at various online retailers for around $169.99, which is quite an OK price point, all things considered.
