If you have a motherboard with an Intel LGA115x or AMD AM3+ or FM2 socket, you can get it

Advanced Micro Devices has just launched the AM1 Socketed Kabini APU platform, but since those chips and motherboards will only be used in low-end systems unlikely to ever get or need custom cooling, companies like Reeven have to stick with what works.

In this case, Reeven has formally launched the Steropes RC-1206 low-profile CPU cooler, which is compatible with both Intel and AMD processors.

Which is to say, it can be installed over central processing units (CPUs) of the Intel LGA115x variety, as well as FM2+ and AM3+ CPUs/APUs (accelerated processing units) from Advanced Micro Devices.

The Steropes RC-1206 measures 125 x 129 x 60 mm / 4.92 x 5.07 x 2.36 inches and weighs 470 grams / 1.03 pounds.

That's pretty heavy actually, but it's justified by the size and the materials that the thing is made of: a base made of copper and aluminum, which also doubles as a heatsink.

There's a second, main, larger heatsink too, connected to the first by five nickel-plated copper heat pipes. The fin stack is parallel to the plane of the motherboard.

As for the fan, it is a 120 mm, 12 mm thick spinner (500 to 2,000 RPM) with an airflow of 12.13 and 45.47 CFM. Now if only the company had revealed the price and ETA of the Steropes RC-1206.
