Some reference new models have been spotted at the FCC

What do you think of Lenovo’s Yoga line of convertibles? It appears Lenovo has gotten good feedback from its customers and, as a consequence, is planning to expand its line of dual-mode portable devices.

The Yoga line’s most highlighted characteristic is its display, capable of being pushed back with 360 degrees, so it can rest behind the keyboard and the device can be carried around like a slate.

According to some documents spotted on the FCC, new models from the Yoga line might be showing their faces in the year to come. Lenovo appears to be working on customizable machines with 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch displays with a range of processor choices.

The FCC documents have been filed by the wireless chip company Broadcom, which is seemingly applying for new Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards. In turn, those cards appear to have been tested with new Lenovo Yoga models.

The Broadcom documents feature label drawings for different Intel Pentium, Core i3 and Core i5 chips, so could it be possible that Lenovo is planning to bring a low-cost convertible to the market, one that has a Pentium processor inside? That would be a first.

Moving on in some other label drawings, we could spot a direct reference to the Lenovo Yoga 2 11. So far Lenovo has the Yoga 2 Pro hybrid on the market, which sports a 13.3-inch screen, but maybe the PC maker intends to put the 11-inch out there as well.

If you head on over at the Lenovo store and look for Yoga devices, you’ll find the Yoga 11S is available, but the models present there only sport 3rd-generation Intel Core Ivy Bridge chips (from the previous generation). However, Lenovo has recently refreshed the line by introducing the new Haswell architecture.

So it’s fair to hypothesize that the upcoming Yoga 2 (11-inch) models will also be based on the newest Intel chip standard. Nevertheless, we'll have to wait and see, until more information starts popping up.
