South Korean mobile phone maker LG Electronics is expected to announce officially as soon as next week its first smartphone that would include 3D capabilities, namely the LG Optimus 3D.

The company already confirmed officially plans to announce the new smartphone during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next week, and has recently released a new video ad to tease the special features the new device would include.

For those out of the loop, we should note that the LG Optimus 3D is touted as the first smartphone in the world to include 3D capabilities.

LG's mobile phone comes with a glasses-free 3D display, and the company also announced that it would pack 3D recording capabilities.

“LG’s most advanced smartphone to date will feature a dual-lens camera for 3D recording, a glasses-free LCD panel for 3D viewing and diverse connectivity options such as HDMI and DLNA for 3D content sharing anytime, anywhere,” the mobile phone maker revealed.

The smartphone was said to run under Google's Android operating system, and to sport a large touchscreen display, most probably a 4.3-inch one rumor has it, even if LG did not make an official announcement on this until now.

The new video advertisement for the LG Optimus 3D smartphone, embedded at the bottom of this article, is meant to prove that 3D is better.

The technology, new to the mobile market, is expected to become very popular soon, especially since it does not require the use of special glasses for the 3D effect.

According to LG, the new device is also meant to address the “lack of 3D content issue,” while being designed to offer a “one-of-a-kind experience on a mobile device.”

Specific info on the hardware capabilities of this smartphone did not emerge for the time being, but LG should announce more on it at MWC 2011 next week, so keep an eye on this space for additional details on it.
