Made for enterprises that want total control over security, updates and user profiles

For enterprises, employer and employee policies are what hold the company together and secure from the outside world, but some companies don't feel content just trusting its workers to be discrete and careful with their work data. Kingston's latest SSD is a response to this.

Basically, companies tend to feel more at ease if they can know for certain that the data on their workers' computers is safeguarded against unauthorized access.

And since some companies are even more paranoid than others (or justifiably cautious since trade secrets are secrets for a reason), hardware encryption is sometimes a must.

Cue products like the Kingston SSDNow KC300 series of solid-state drives, which have automatic self-encrypting capabilities.

With capacities of 60 GB, 120 GB and 240 GB, they support centralized management software like WinMagic SecureDoc, Wave Embassy and McAfee Endpoint Encryption for PC (EEPC).

They will allow for managing security policies, enabling or disabling automatic updates, user creation and deletion, and password recovery.

"As SSDs become more common in businesses and organizations, many of our enterprise customers are now looking into managing these drives in the workforce," said Ariel Perez, SSD business manager, Kingston.

"We are proud to offer a version of our top-selling KC300 SSD with the ability to be managed by the most popular endpoint software applications to give companies flexibility and peace of mind to keep work data secure."

The new Kingston SSDNow KC300 solid-state drives are compatible with the TCG Opal 1.0 specification, which is like a special medal awarded for the capacity to satisfy the needs of "companies implementing centralized management software to manage security policies."

Kingston did not mention the prices, unfortunately. No doubt, they will depend on customers' haggling skills. The warranty was revealed though, at three years, which is pretty much in line with our expectations.
