Purported pic of Jared Leto shows hint of scars, no tattoos

Over the weekend, director David Ayer, now working on “Suicide Squad,” the movie that gets all DC Comics villains together, working on the same team to fight crime as part of a secret government task force, tweeted the first official, clear photo of The Joker.

The role, previously played by Heath Ledger in “The Dark Knight,” is Jared Leto’s and there’s a lot of pressure on him to deliver a performance as memorable as Ledger’s.

So it wasn’t surprising to see that Ayer went in a different direction with his Joker than Nolan did: Leto’s version seems even more insane than anything we’ve seen before of the character, and he’s also heavy into body art. Moreover, he has his own comic books dialog tattooed on his body, and the word “Damaged” on his forehead.

Fans’ reactions to this first photo ranged from ecstatic to downright angry; there was no middle way to this, which is probably what Ayer counted on.

A new photo purporting to be of Leto in character has leaked and popped up on Twitter. You can see it at the end of this post; the second photo is one that leaked before the official version, for you to compare and determine if the former is legit or a fake.

One thing that Leto’s Joker lacked in the official photo was any sign of facial scars. In the new leaked pic, he either has a hint of scars or that’s just smeared makeup. Either way, many believe the photo is a fake, which would explain the poor quality.

“Suicide Squad” will be out in theaters in August 2016. It will be another while until the first footage from it drops, so for the time being, we have nothing but photos (leaked or not) to keep us going.
