Described as the most hideous designer bag ever to see the light of day

Louis Vuitton is a brand that stands out from the crowd, to say the least, where handbags are concerned. Offering a wide range of models coming to offer an equally wide range of functionalities, LV bags are among the designer items that are considered investment accessory pieces. The latest model, though, the New Age Traveler Backpack, priced at a whopping $54,000 (£26,000) is far from being such a desirable item, the Daily Mail claims.

As its very name says, the new LV creation is a backpack. Unlike other backpacks, though, it costs a small fortune and is made of what fashion critics refer to as a “vile mess” (that is, combination) of crocodile skin, tassels and fringes, making for the most hideous looking designer item now available. It can also be seen as the utmost example of how designers take what are supposed to be practical, everyday use items and transform them into pretexts for so-called “high art.” At least, that’s where the Daily Mail stands.

“The fashion industry had spawned a plague of the ugliest, silliest, most outrageously priced It bags imaginable. What drugs do you have to be on to design a bag that looks like it’s made of material from a Seventies council estate sofa, fossilized witchetty grubs and more cheap leather tassels than a rodeo beauty pageant? And that’s a kind description of Louis Vuitton’s New Age Traveler Backpack. What is not kind and must be some kind of joke (along the lines of: let’s design the most hideous bag any woman has ever carried and call it cutting-edge fashion) is the £26,000 they’re charging for it,” the publication writes of the new designer bag.

However, there might be more to the release of this new bag than just the simple fact that the world has yet another tote that is absurdly expensive and doesn’t even look that well to begin with. As the Mail puts it, designer It handbags have long ceased to be actual handbags, slowly but surely becoming vanity possessions that denote the worst kind of fashionista: the fool. Their being so ugly may also lead on to the conclusion that, the uglier these totes are, the higher their price – quite an honest conclusion if one were to consider the new LV backpack alone.

“As the Louis Vuitton New Age Traveler Backpack demonstrates, there is an inverse relationship between price and class. It must be a conspiracy, as all the designers have upped their prices this season,” the Mail further says.
