Recent reports suggested that mobile phone carrier Sprint might have been planning the release of a new LTE-capable flavor of LG Eclipse smartphone, a device that already emerged in a series of leaked images online.

With model number LG LS970 attached to it, the smartphone was previously said to arrive on shelves with support for Sprint’s 4G LTE network, while also packing increased performance capabilities inside.

The newly leaked image with the phone, available courtesy of BriefMobile, also unveils some more details on its hardware capabilities, while confirming a few of the previously rumored ones.

LG Eclipse 4G LTE is expected to hit the shelves at Sprint with a 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8064 S4 application processor packed inside, along with 2GB of RAM for increased speed and performance. It will also sport the Adreno 320 GPU.

Moreover, the new mobile phone is said to have a large 4.67-inch touchscreen display on the front, capable of delivering a 768 x 1280 pixels resolution.

Reportedly, the phone’s specs list also includes a 13-megapixel photo snapper on the back, with flash and support for HD video recording.

Inside, the LG Eclipse 4G LTE packs 16GB of memory, but no info on a microSD memory card slot to expand it has emerged so far.

However, we do know that the smartphone will include a 2,100mAh removable battery, and that it will arrive on shelves with NFC (Near Field Communication) capabilities.

The usual set of sensors and connectivity capabilities, such as 3G, WiFi and Bluetooth will also be packed inside, along with GPS receiver and the like.

The smartphone will run under Google’s Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, most probably with the new Optimus UI 3.0 loaded on top of it.

For the time being, however, nothing has been confirmed on the specs or arrival of this mobile phone, and we’ll have to wait for a formal confirmation on it to make sure that these details will indeed pan out, so stay tuned.
