Harman Kardon has somewhat of a tradition in launching compact, all-inclusive home entertainment speaker systems (also known as home theaters in a box), and that's exactly what they're doing now with the HKTS 60 model, touted as being capable of delivering a very good level of audio performance in a convenient and classy package, that, however, has a price to match its features. The home theater in a box boasts the signature harman kardon 5.1-channel sound, a 200-watt powered 8-inch (200mm) subwoofer, four identical 2-1/2-way dual-driver satellites and a matching center speaker. The speaker system's dual, flat-panel midrange drivers can be found in both the satellite and center speakers and are ideal for reducing distortion and unwanted reflections, while the system also features a phase switch for fine-tuning bass response to suit one's listening environment and taste. Furthermore, harman kardon also informs us that a built-in music-sense trigger will feel the presence of an audio signal and switch the subwoofer from standby mode to “on” automatically, thus helping save more power. To enable user-friendly installation, the all-in-one package includes all cables necessary to connect the speakers to a receiver (or preamp/processor) and amplifier, plus removable bases that make placement simple. “We have always been committed to designing and engineering products that bring out the most immersive entertainment and music experiences for the home in the most convenient of ways,” said Christopher M. Dragon, director of Consumer and Field Marketing, HARMAN Consumer, Inc. “The HKTS 60 – the newest of its kind in the HKTS family – is no different,” concluded Mr. Dragon. The harman kardon HKTS 60 home theater speaker system is available now for $1,199, which is not exactly a very small price point, but, then again, we wouldn't expect anything else from this company, given both its status and product quality.
