The whole video market may have been taken by storm now that NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 560 has been unleashed, but this doesn't mean AMD's camp will stay silent, HIS having even provided a new “Fan” series card.

HIS has been a maker of graphics adapters for years and has more than one card that was the greatest of its lot at the time of launch.

This once, the company didn't precisely release a product of this sort, and it isn't even an iteration of the most recently unleashed stock adapter from NVIDIA.

Instead, the outfit decided to make an AMD Radeon series adapter which, at the cost of silence and, to some extent, cooling prowess, has a fairly accessible price of $160.

The product in question, as discovered by TechPowerUp, is the HIS 6790 Fan, where “Fan” denotes that the cooler relies most on airflow than anything else.

It is no secret that, these days, cooling solutions seem to be moving more and more towards the passive template, since a lower need for airflow meant lower fan speeds, fewer fans or even lack of spinner altogether, enabling both silent operation and higher power efficiency.

The “Fan” series of HIS video cards, however, are actually the opposite of that, since the air flow is the main element behind how the GPU and the rest of the adapters stay at manageable temperature.

As for the actual specifications, those that decide to buy one of these will not have much reason to be disappointed, especially with the aforementioned price point.

The GPU (graphics processing unit), for instance, has a frequency of 810 MHz, while the 1 GB of GDDR5 memory (with an interface of 256 bits) has a clock speed of 4,200 MHz.

Other specifications include HDMI, a pair of DVI connectors, DisplayPort and 800 stream processors.

It is not exactly clear when online stores will commence listing this particular graphics adapter.
