Depicting the 'Vista situation'...

Apple's 'Get a Mac' campaign has a great success for the company, both in terms of driving sales and gaining mindshare, the best proof being just how much some people hate them. Around the time of the iPhone launch, this marketing effort pretty much slipped under the radar, but now it has resurfaced with a vengeance.

Leopard's launch has given rise to a flood of reviews, all comparing it to Vista and the vast majority finding it the winner. Even dedicated PC publications that have for years avoided anything that had to do with 'the other platform' are pronouncing Vista a flop, and the situation is only worsened by the fact that it will be a long time before Microsoft comes out with something better. Given this, it is not surprising that Apple has chosen to now come out with three new 'Get a Mac' ads, all of which deal with Vista.

In Podium, PC is depicted trying to rally other PCs, under the slogan "Don't give up on Vista," but in the end admits to Mac that he actually downgraded back to Windows XP. "Boxer" is a perfect representation of the majority of reviews out there, in which Vista goes head to head against Leopard, without actually putting up much of a fight. The announcer's statement is reminiscent of many reviewers that end their analyses by actually stating that they have started using Macs in some form or another.

Lastly, in "PR Lady", PC turns to outside help in order to put a better spin on the entire situation. The PR Lady's lines are the perfect example of the fluff that often gets said, which just doesn't cut it anymore.

Like all such ads before them, they manage to be funny while delivering their marketing package. Of course, some might find them offensive, perhaps even more so than the previous ads, which can be seen as a good indication that these ads are indeed getting the job done.
