14 DAY TRIAL // The GeForce GTX 960 graphics card is old news by this point, and NVIDIA does not have any plans to release a successor for it any time soon. However, some OEMs are still tinkering with it. ELSA is one of them.
In NVIDIA's GeForce series, the GeForce GTX 960 is currently the weakest of the latest generation. However, considering that there are only three cards in the GTX 900 series, that's not saying much.
GTX 960 is, ultimately, still a pretty powerful video board, sitting comfortably in the higher half of the consumer add-in graphics card mainstream market.
This may be why ELSA decided to leave the clocks alone. While the cooler was surely enough customized, the performance was not.
ELSA GeForce GTX 960 graphics card
The GeForce GTX 960 has a base GPU clock of 1,217 MHz and a GPU Boost clock of 1,178 MHz, which makes it identical in capabilities with the reference card.
However, the single-fan cooler with black shroud and aluminum heatsink, plus the heatpipes, should make it a bit cooler than the original board. The lone fan ought to be more silent as well, which is always a good thing.
Interestingly, the video ports are different from what you might expect. Rather than dual-DVI, HDMI and DisplayPort connectors, the card uses a single DVI, one HDMI and three DisplayPorts.
The GeForce GTX 960 SAC Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero edition
This video card ships with a bundled game and, thus, is a bit more expensive. It also utilizes a better and longer cooler, with two fans instead of one. However, the performance is the same as above.
Availability
The ELSA GeForce GTX 960 graphics card and GTX 960 SAC Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zero edition should go up for sale soon at the price of around $200 / €200. The cooler shroud should be easy enough to detach from both.
Given the source that exposed the existence of these video boards (Hermitage Akihabara), we are fairly certain that sales will begin first in Japan before extending to the rest of the world, if they do at all.
