Ben Feder takes the spotlight

We've seen quite a lot of news reports about Take Two recently, largely due to the fact that the company has postponed one of its biggest releases of this year, BioShock 2, into 2010, when other high-quality titles like Mafia II or Red Dead Redemption will also be making an appearance.

This led to quite a lot of speculation, especially from Wedbush Morgan analyst Michael Pachter, who revealed that, according to his sources, a brand-new Grand Theft Auto game, GTA V, might be making an appearance next year, or in 2011 at most.

Now, the chief executive officer of Take Two, Ben Feder, has talked with journalists, denying that any new GTA game will appear in 2010. “Our goals for fiscal 2010 include operating the company profitably on a Non-GAAP basis without a new multi-platform Grand Theft Auto release.”

But this didn't stop Feder from teasing everyone when he revealed that there were many more stories in GTA IV that could be told to gamers around the world and that the team at Rockstar was quite dedicated. “Historically the franchise has been developed with initial multi-platform releases and then with incremental releases, in an array of ways. And I think we're following that here. There are stories yet that still need to be told relating to GTA4. We're dealing with creative passion and talent and we're satisfying and we hope always exceeding consumer expectation. It's one of the great things about what Rockstar does and is motivated to do.” he said.

Whether or not we will see any more downloadable episodes after the release of the second planned one, The Ballad of Gay Tony, is still a mystery though. Perhaps the next ones will be released for all of the platforms on which the game is currently available and not only on the Xbox 360 console.
