14 DAY TRIAL // We got a good taste of the insane action scenes in the upcoming “Furious 7,” the latest installment in the “Fast & Furious” franchise, with the Super Bowl 2015 trailer, but the new trailer embedded below tops every expectation set by the teaser.
The entire franchise is over the top, but this new film will attempt to break the mold. This is so over the top it’s ridiculous and occasionally stupid, but to the producers’ credit, it does seem like this will be one insane, highly entertaining ride.
“Furious 7” stars the late actor Paul Walker, who died before he completed work on the film, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Jordana Brewster, Kurt Russell, Djimon Hounsou and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Jason Statham, who usually plays the good guy in action flicks, will try to make a villain role work - to great results, from what I can make from the preview below. However, a world in which Statham defeats The Rock in hand-to-hand combat is simply not possible.
The story is simple, from what I can see: the gang is back and living the good life. The brother of a guy whom they took out some time ago is coming after them seeking revenge, and they must rally once more, this time to save their own lives and bring the bad guy down.
Or, as Vin Diesel would say, “this time it’s not all about being fast.” That’s right: this time is about being crazy, too.
