The eco friendliness card is one that hardware makers have been flaunting more and more often lately, and it seems that even mice have started to get with the program, as shown by Fujitsu.

There aren't many ways that one can boost the environmental friendliness of a peripheral (mice, keyboards, etc.).

Still, while Eco-friendliness may most often be synonymous with low energy use, it is more than that in the case of Fujitsu's newest device.

Going by the name of Fujitsu Mouse M440 ECO, it may be seen as a sort of complement for the KBPC PX ECO keyboard.

Basically, it is a non-rodent built completely out of biodegradable materials, meaning that plastic is totally absent, replaced by environmentally-conscious substitutes ARBOFORM and BIOGRADE.

The company decided to provide this electronic after the great success of the aforementioned KBPC PX ECO, which 'only' replaces 45% of its plastic components with materials from renewable sources.

According to the press release, by switching to renewable materials for the mouse Fujitsu will save about 60,000 kilograms of plastic per year.

“It’s the little things that add up - we’re continuing to prove that it’s possible to eliminate the use of non-renewable sources from the IT lifecycle,” said Garry Sales, product marketing manager, Client Products, at Fujitsu UK & Ireland.

“Fujitsu underlines its commitment to innovative green products for the desktop, starting with the new ECO mouse, through to the proGREEN selection,” he added.

“By choosing this mouse, environmentally-conscious businesses can feel good that they are helping reduce CO2 emissions without sacrificing durability or comfort – and without having to pay any extra,” Sales went on to saying.

It shouldn't take long for the Fujitsu Mouse M440 ECO to reach online stores, if it hasn't already. Once it does, it will have a retail price tag of £13.20.
