SEGA, as the publisher, and Sports Interactive, as the developer, have announced that they are working on a new Football Manager video game that will be launched for the PC, the Mac and the PlayStation Portable from Sony before Christmas of this year rolls around.

The two companies have been collaborating on the Football Manager series since 2005 when Sports Interactive lost the right to use the name Championship Manager, which is now used by a rival series delivered by publisher Eidos.

Sports Interactive is set to deliver some interesting changes to its management simulation franchise. Gamers acting as managers will now be able to negotiate contracts with interested players in real time, with the simulation using knowledge gleaned from several high profile real world player agents.

The training system has also been revamped, with players able to tell their team to focus on specific areas of their game in the run up to the virtual clash of the pitch, taking into account the specifics of the team they are about to face.

Miles Jacobson, the studio director at Sports Interactive, has stated when the announcement was made that, “At Sports Interactive, we always strive to give the end-user the best experience possible. The training system for example has always been the best we thought it could be, until now. We’ve found a way to make it even better!”

Sports Interactive also says that the 3D Match Engine has received improvements, with more than 100 animations added over last year and with better lightning, more stadium models, more goals celebrations and more detail.

Other changes include more options when interacting with players before and after matches and with the board of the club.

The media module of Football Manager has also been enhanced, allowing players to keep track of the most important news while also getting his message out.
