A few weeks ago, the first official trailer for the drama “The Fighter” was released – and it looked like a typical Hollywood-made boxing inspirational story. The second trailer is much more raw and insane.

For those not familiar with “The Fighter,” suffice it to say that it could probably be Christian Bale’s Oscar vehicle since he pulled another one of his impressive transformations for the role as a retired junkie boxer.

However, the story is not about Bale’s character, Dickie Eklund, but about “Irish” Mickey Ward, played by Mark Wahlberg, who is trying to make a comeback.

Even though age is his biggest disadvantage, Mickey sets out to return to the ring with the help of his brother and, from what we can see in this new trailer, lots of support from his family.

Entertainment Weekly describes the new trailer, which aired during the “Mad Men” season finale, more intense, insane and raw, offering a glimpse of what audiences have coming their way this December, when the movie is out.

“One of the most unexpected delights about the evening came during a commercial break, when we were treated to an eye-catching trailer for The Fighter, the upcoming boxing film starring Mark Wahlberg,” EW writes.

“The movie’s been a passion project of Wahlberg’s for years, and will be the first feature directed by David O. Russell since 2004’s I Heart Huckabees,” the publication further says.

“The trailer is, well, insane: lots of overlapping dialogue and raw-looking footage. How raw? Amy Freaking Adams punches somebody,” EW says.

However, word on the web has it, Bale is not the only one to stand good chances for an Oscar nod with “The Fighter,” since Wahlberg too may actually get to take a statuette home.

As fans must know, Mark has a Best Supporting Actor Academy nomination for his role in Martin Scorsese’s 2006 “The Departed” – so “The Fighter” may prove to be his chance at taking the Oscar home.

“The Fighter” is scheduled for theatrical release in the US on December 10. Below is the brand new trailer. Enjoy.
