Come Christmas, moviegoers will get a first look at another potential Oscar contender, Stephen Daldry's “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.” Until then, we have a brand new trailer for it, just to get an idea of what to expect from it.

Based on the novel of the same name by Jonathan Safran Foer, the film tells the story of an 11-year-old boy who, in the aftermath of the tragic 9/11 events, embarks on a quest of self-discovery that will eventually lead him to find the meaning of true love.

His father dies in the attacks and his death acts as the incentive that sets him in his amazing quest. As the trailer shows, he's no ordinary 11-year-old boy either.

“Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” stars Tom Hanks as the father and Sandra Bullock as the mom. Newcomer Thomas Horn is Oskar, the boy.

The film also stars Max von Sydow, Viola Davis, John Goodman and Jeffrey Wright, and will get limited release on Christmas.

In January 2012, it will hit theaters worldwide.
