Japanese mobile phone maker Sony Mobile is working on new entry-level handsets running under the Android operating system, and some info on them has emerged online today.

A brand-new Sony D25XX model has been spotted in Indonesia on the Postel regulatory website, which might be announced in the not-too-distant future in two different versions, it seems.

The handset has been spotted online in a LTE-enabled variant, as Sony D2533, as well as with only HSPA+ connectivity packed inside, with model number D2502 attached.

As XperiaBlog notes, chances are that the new handset will be released as a different iteration of the Sony D2403 that was spotted in a leaked benchmark recently.

According to them, there is a chance that Sony will release these devices either as two different smartphone models, with Sony D25XX featuring slightly better hardware specs, or as variants of the same handsets.

Most probably, if the latter applies, one of the phones will come to shelves with dual-SIM capabilities inside, while the other will feature only single-SIM functionality.

The aforementioned leaked benchmark for Sony D2403 has already unveiled that the phone will be released with a 4.4-inch touchscreen display capable of offering a qHD (540 x 960 pixels) resolution, and that it will be powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with Adreno 305 graphics attached.

Moreover, the handset is rumored to feature 1GB of RAM, along with 16GB of internal memory (a microSD memory card slot might also be included), and an 8-megapixel camera on the back, complemented by a VGA front camera for making video calls while on the go.

The smartphone is also said to rock the same processor as the Xperia M2, which would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8926 chipset, and to arrive on the market with the Android KitKat OS loaded on top (it was tested with Android 4.4.2, it seems).

Unfortunately, no official info on any of the aforementioned handset models has been provided as of now, and we’ll have to take the info on them with a grain of salt for the time being.

However, chances are that they will go official sooner rather than later, as Sony would want to expand its current smartphone lineup with some more entry-level devices that would allow it to boost its market share, especially in emerging countries.

Hopefully, more details on these new models will become available in the not-too-distant future, so stay tuned to learn more on the matter.
