Since Intel has decided to officially introduce the new dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor, we're already starting to see more and more products built around it make their way onto the market, the latest we've come across being the Acer Aspire One D255E.

We've already come across an Asus Eee PC featuring the new processor, and now it's about time to take a look at this device from Acer that, according to NetbookNews, is already available on the market, in the updated version.

The CPU bump-up is, in fact, quite significant, given the fact that the former N550 processor found within the Aspire notebook ran at around 1.5Ghz, while the N570 has a clock frequency of 1.66Ghz.

However, apart from these updates, the Aspire One D255E is actually very similar to its predecessor, sporting an ultra-portable form factor, as well as quite a standard netbook configuration.

So, the portable computing system still comes equipped with a 10.1-inch display with 1024 x 600 pixels resolution, as well as 1GB of DDR3 RAM, which, unfortunately, is not exactly a very good value, especially taking into account the requirements of the latest software applications.

Furthermore, the netbook also sports a 250GB HDD, plus Wireless-N networking and the range of connectivity options we've come to expect as a standard from products in this category.

Last, but certainly not least, we'll have to point out that pricing for the new Aspire One D255E model featuring the new N570 CPU has been set at around US$330, while the previous version, coming with the N550 Atom, has recorded quite a serious price cut, now selling for around 270 US dollars.

As far as we're concerned, the difference in price is actually way too small to count, given the fact that the differences in overall performance won't be significantly visible, and for this reason, it's quite likely that a fairly large number of customers will go for the cheaper model (as long as stocks last, of course).
