As the developers of Dropbox are putting the finishing touches on version 2.2.0, a new experimental build is out with a couple of noteworthy enhancements, one of which should please users of iPhoto.

“Since we're so close to finishing up 2.1.x we wanted to give you a sneak peek at what we've been working for the 2.3.x line. So here are four new features that will hopefully make Dropbox a boon to your productivity,” says the development team.

Dropbox 2.3.12 Experimental uploads screenshots automatically and even copies a link to the clipboard so you can instantly share your screen-grab with others.

Upon launching the new Dropbox for the first time, the application will prompt you to enable this feature, if you wish to do so.

Another feature is “Move to Dropbox,” a handy right-click action for any file on your Mac.

iPhoto users will be able to import their libraries to Dropbox, providing a much more convenient storage medium (as well as a really useful backup solution for your memories).

This feature is supported only on Macs with iPhoto 7.0 or higher installed. According to the engineering team at Dropbox, “It will show up as a notification in your tray menu if you have photos in your iPhoto library.”

“Your iPhoto albums and events will also be created as Dropbox albums (viewable on the web),” the company adds.

Last but not least, Dropbox will upload large files much faster now, according to the developers.

Readers should keep in mind that Dropbox 2.3.12 is an Experimental build meant for testing. The software may exhibit misbehavior, which means it’s probably not reliable in certain circumstances.

The latest stable version of Dropbox for Macs is v2.2.0. Both downloads are available at the link below.
