The game promises quite a lot

God of War is probably one of the most popular franchises to appear on the PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable systems, as all of the titles brought an intricate story to life with the use of innovative gameplay mechanics and level design. The games followed the story of Kratos, an ex-spartan soldier who seeks revenge on the Greek gods who forced him to do their bidding.

Now, with God of War III, the third full title, which will appear on the PlayStation 3 console, Sony is really raising the stakes, and promises that it will deliver a game that is unheard of. With the fact that it uses textures up to four times as detailed as the ones in the second God of War title, and the introduction of new moves, which are more life-like, the Santa Monica studio of Sony promises to offer a great game to all of the fans out there.

“We have large shoes to fill following the success of the previously released God of War titles,” said Stig Asmussen, game director for God of War III. “But with refined gameplay and jaw-dropping visuals, I guarantee that God of War will give fans what they have been eagerly waiting for, and much more.”

The game will follow the journey of Kratos up Mount Olympus and through the hell that resides inside, in order for him to finally confront the gods who betrayed and used him. Quite a lot of new systems, including a dynamic lighting and a more robust weapons one, will be introduced, all in order to enhance the final experience that will be delivered to the gamers.

Although the game looks pretty good, as revealed by the recent trailer, the Sony team still have quite a long road ahead of them and no concrete launch date has been established. Let's just hope that the developers will take their time with this game and deliver a quality title, worthy of the God of War name.
