Lionsgate releases new poster for “Crank: High Voltage,” starring Jason Statham

Despite the fact that Jason Statham is ranked by critics as an above-the-average actor, he seems to be obstinate enough to act mostly in mind-blowing action movies that are too entertaining to allow the moviegoer to think about what is going on onscreen as well. It could be just that which makes his huge fanbase love him that much, it is being said. And even more loved he’s going to be once “Crank: High Voltage” is out.

With the release date set for April 17, the promo campaign for “High Voltage,” the sequel to the 2006 “Crank,” has begun a couple of weeks ago. Lionsgate has just released a new poster for the film and, by the looks of it, fans of the first movie (most of who said a sequel to it was close to impossible to make) are in for the surprise of their lives once it hits theaters.

Bearing the tagline “He was dead… But he got better.” the sequel to “Crank” will also probably be asking from fans to overlook some absurdities required in order to make the film itself possible, several movie-oriented publications are pointing out. Nevertheless, what it will bring to the table – guaranteed – will be more “mad,” insane fun, the kind that the first film also had plenty of. If fans are to add to that Statham’s ability to do really well in action scenes and some awesome editing, then April might just bring to them what they’ve been waiting for all along.

The 2006 “Crank” deals with the story of hitman Chev Chelios, poisoned by his Arch-enemy. In order to prevent the poison from spreading to his body and ultimately killing him, he must do what it takes to keep his adrenaline level up and not have his heart rate dropping. From this to a series of the most mind-boggling action sequences is but a step, however, naturally, Chelios has to do everything in his powers to keep his heart racing.

While struggling to keep his adrenaline up, he is also trying to reach rival Verona, as well as protect his unknowing girlfriend Eve, played by Amy Smart. With these in mind, fans must know by now that the sequel will probably bring them double the action and double the wow factor – if this recently released poster is any indication of that.
