Seems very likely...

The MacBook Pro was the first Mac portable based on Intel architecture, and it has no doubt been a great product. However, it is beginning to show its age. The MacBook has also been a roaring success for Apple, and is still quite fresh.

While it is generally agreed that Apple is going to be updating the MacBook Pro line sometime in the near future, AppleInsider reports that both MacBooks and MacBook Pros are going to be getting an update. "People familiar with the matter say development of Core 2 Duo versions of all three models -- the 13-inch MacBook, 15-inch MacBook Pro and 17-inch MacBook Pro -- are now complete and all that's left is for Apple marketing to pull the trigger," Kasper Jade reports for AppleInsider.

While, without a doubt, the MacBook Pro should be going down the Core 2 Duo road, it seems strange that the consumer MacBooks would see the same update. Apple tends to clearly differentiate between consumer and pro products, both in terms of specifications and price.

The new models are expected to come sometime between now and the time Thanksgiving rolls around, that is in late November, although Apple may not launch all the new models at the same time because that might lead to a shortage of chips. The current MacBooks are selling so well that Apple has been looking for a third manufacturing partner.
