Almost every important camera and optics manufacturer has announced its upcoming lineup for the CP+ Camera & Photo Imaging Show in Yokohama, Japan but, for the moment, Canon chooses to keep this a secret.

According to CanonRumors, a new source stated that the Nippon manufacturer was planning to introduce at least one new lens after this year's CP+ show, towards the last week of February or the first week of March.

Moreover, it seems that Canon is preparing to announce a replacement for the current EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS with availability set to a later date, but no details have been given about its possible price. Currently, the aforementioned lens is can be purchased at a price of $1,699 / €1,250 on the official US Canon Store.

A couple of days ago, a new patent was uncovered that showed a new Canon 70-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS lens. Could this be the upcoming optic that will replace the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS?
