The official Android client for the Dropbox  online file storage and sharing service has been updated once again. The new beta version brings several enhancements, as well as some bug fixes.

One of the main new features introduced by the latest release is an option which allows users to share files from other applications.

By simply selecting "Share to Dropbox" from the supported apps (such as Gallery, etc.), users can quickly share the chosen file.

And this is not all, single, as well as multiple files can be uploaded at the same time.

Another useful addition is a multi-touch Gallery for browsing pictures in a directory.

By long-holding on an image, users can perform various file operations.

The downloading and uploading of files has also received an update, now displaying progress notifications.

Other additions and changes of the new version include:

• Now you can create Shortcuts to Dropbox folders by long-holding on the desktop.

• Added long-hold folder options for sharing and open.

• Long-hold file Open now plays non-streaming, if it's a streaming file type.

• Added Cache Size display and Clear Cache button.

• Prompt to install file manager such as OI or Astro if one is not installed already.

• Notification if SD card is unavailable, so downloads, viewing, or uploads won't work.

• The e-mail to tell friends about Dropbox now contains a referral link, so you can get a quota bonus.

• Visual Redesign with new icons

Besides these changes, the beta version has also received several bug fixes: one which enables small file changes to now sync properly, and another one which fixes an issues that caused files to be re-uploaded when upgrading or re-installing the application.

Also, the network timeout has been increased for improved performance on slow networks.
