As the release date for the second installment in “The Twilight Saga” is drawing near, more and more details on the much-hyped production are beginning to surface. Not that fans would really need anything more than the story itself to buy tickets for the film, for that matter, but, for what it's worth, Summit Entertainment is doing its best to up the hype for it. On this note, a new set of behind-the-scenes photos has just been released, as the Los Angeles Times can confirm.

The photos, all taken back in April 2009, as “New Moon” was still shooting, show the three young stars and staff hard at work in the woods in Vancouver. Some of them are with Taylor Lautner shooting scenes, bare-chested despite the cold, or simply listening to instructions from director Chris Weitz. Others show makeup preparations, with a stylist retouching Robert Pattinson’s lips – because it takes a lot to make a vampire this gorgeous, as fans must have already guessed.

Several pics also depict a “dream sequence” that puts Bella (Kristen Stewart) and Edward (Pattinson) in the same bed together, shot against a green backdrop to which special effects will be applied in post-production. Pattinson and Stewart, the two main leads in the “Twilight” films, are also shown in between takes, as they talk to the director or simply wait for all preparations to be over so that they can get to work. For Taylor, though, most breaks in between scenes are spent working out, as one photo proves.

As fans have already been told by none other than the brother of director Chris Weitz, all this hard work and all night shooting in the cold have paid off. In a recent interview, Paul Weitz revealed he had seen a first cut of the film, which was nothing short of “awesome,” he vouched. He wouldn’t say what made it so awesome, but, from his words, one can infer it’s his brother’s different approach to Stephenie Meyer’s original material that will bring a new twist to the story.

“He showed me an early cut.” Paul Weitz was saying a while back. “And I thought it was awesome. Why was it awesome? Well, I just really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the first movie too. [Chris’ ‘New Moon’ movie] was really just an interesting story.” he added. Until fans get to see for themselves just how “awesome” “New Moon” is (it drops in theaters on November 20), here is where they can see the entire gallery of behind-the-scenes pics.
