Electronic Arts wants to make it clear that Battlefield 3 is targeted at Activision's Call of Duty series, and the newest video for the upcoming first person shooter sports a very interesting tagline, urging players to 'Go Above and Beyond the Call', stopping short of mentioning the name of the Call of Duty franchise.

Activision has been raking in a huge amount of money in the last few years thanks to yearly iterations in its Call of Duty series, making it one of the most, if not the most popular franchise in the industry.

This fall, however, Electronic Arts wants to take the fight to Activision by releasing Battlefield 3, a new first person shooter from its DICE studio, just two weeks before Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, coming from developers Infinity Ward and Sledgehammer Games.

We've seen the companies involved take jabs at one another, with EA mentioning more than once that it wants to steal market share and fans from the Call of Duty series, no matter what.

This is apparent with a new Battlefield 3 video from EA, highlighting the impressive visuals of the game. The footage has a pretty peculiar soundtrack, using Jay-Z's 99 Problems song, but what's most important is the end screen.

In it, the tagline of the video is showcased, in the form of 'Go Above and Beyond the Call', a shorter version of the traditional 'Above and Beyond the Call of Duty' motto.

As you can imagine, Activision declined to comment on the video, but you can clearly tell that a lot of Call of Duty fans have taken offense on the Battlefield 3 trailer. Still, remember that Battlefield 3 versus Modern Warfare 3 is pretty much a David versus Goliath match, so EA is doing everything it can to capitalize on the popularity of Call of Duty and the rivalry between the two titles.

Battlefield 3 is out on October 25, in North America, and October 28, in Europe. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is released on November 8

Until then, check out the controversial video below.
