A large proportion of the fan base for the Batman video game series has been disappointed with the current Arkham Origins release from Warner Bros. But it seems that in the coming month, they will finally get some good news: an official announcement about the new title in the series that Rocksteady is working on.

It seems that GameStop, the largest specialist retailer chain focused on video games, has received a number of special large posters that show the name Batman, according to an inside source, and they will apparently only be able to put them up in stores at some point in late March.

At the same time, NeoGAF quotes a journalist who is ready to reveal that he has been invited to attend a special presentation at the offices of Rockstar Games, although he is not able to offer any details about the game shown for the next 30 days.

It’s entirely possible that the team is working on a new game franchise and that many Batman fans will be disappointed when the official announcement is made.

So far, neither Rocksteady, nor Warner Bros. has offered any sort of comment on the two leaks.

The only other title that the company has worked on during its history is Urban Chaos: Riot Response, which is unlikely to get a sequel.

Rocksteady Studios was founded in 2004 by a pair of developers named Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker and the entire business was acquired by Warner Bros. via Time Warner in February 2010.

Batman: Arkham Origins was launched late in 2013 and allowed gamers to explore the initial stages of the vigilante career of the Dark Crusader, using many of the mechanics that were pioneered in the first two titles in the series.

The Cold, Cold Heart downloadable content for the title has recently been announced and will allow players to battle Mr. Freeze, but the developers have said that they do not plan to offer any more patches for the title.

Warner Bros. might also be exploring the possibility of making Batman a yearly franchise, with two different studios launching titles in the same universe, following the Call of Duty model.

Rocksteady has a reputation for creating quality experiences and both Arkham Asylum and Arkham City were praised for the way they managed to allow players to experience the combat capabilities of Batman while also delivering a story worthy of his profile.
