14 DAY TRIAL // Several days ago, Research In Motion (RIM) promised its fans it would deploy major updates to the most popular applications for the BlackBerry platform, including BlackBerry Messenger (BBM), Facebook, Twitter, BBM Travel and BBM Music.
Most of the applications mentioned earlier already got their updates that included full BBM integration among other neat new features and enhancements.
Today it’s BBM Music’s turn to receive the promised update. Those who own a BlackBerry Beta Zone account and already downloaded and installed the latest beta version of the application won’t be surprised by the changes added.
It appears that BBM Music 1.2.0.17 comes with all the new features available in the beta version except the default buddy.
There are three important new changes that improve users’ overall experience. Firstly, BBM Music received “Invitation Requests,” which allows users to view songs and the common friend who sends an invitation request from “friend of a friend” through Recent Updates, prior to accepting or declining an invitation.
‘Favorite’ Songs and Contacts is a new feature that allows BBM Music users to highlight songs or contacts as favorites.
In order to do that, users will only need to simply click on the star displayed in the top left hand corner while listening to a specific song. As soon as the star is highlighted yellow, it means the song is now a “favorite” and users will be able to access it through “favorite songs” on their profile tab.
It is also worth mentioning all favorite songs are displayed to each user’s friends in Recent Updates For a favorite contact.
Moreover, when they visit a contact’s page they will be able to select “favorite” from the top menu bar, which will add a highlighted yellow star beside the contact’s name in the contacts tab that will only be visible to that user.
With Intelligent Shuffle users can shuffle songs by favorite songs, genre, artist, song popularity, album, contact, release year or recently added. The new options can be accessed from the home tab.
Other application improvements have been included as well, such as the enhanced notification for friends who are already using BBM Music. There’s also improved performance at startup and easier access to account information directly from the profile screen.
BBM Music 1.2.0.17 is now available as a free download via App World and it should be fully compatible with all devices running BlackBerry 5.0 and higher.
