As the first iPad 2 tablets are getting ready to reach their owners, more and more accessories designed specifically to accompany the famous Apple devices have started to appear, the latest we've come across being the DODOcase for the iPad 2.

As you've been able to see up until now, accessories' manufacturers are really having a very good period right now, given the fact that the iPad facelift is quite a good opportunity for selling even more of their products than they did up until now, by slightly modifying existing models and the re-labeling them for the new Apple Internet tablet.

To some extent, that's also the case with the DODOcase, initially released a year go, roughly around the same time as the original iPad, but this particular protection solution does have a couple of interesting features that differentiate it from other similar models available out there.

So, what really makes the DODOcase so special is the fact that it's manufactured by hand by local artisans from San Francisco using what the company calls “traditional bookbinding techniques”.

The basic (and naturally, more widespread and affordable) model is the DODOcase Classic for the iPad 2, that comes with a choice of Red, Green, Charcoal, and Sky Blue lining for $59.95, or with a choice of Dark Blue, Orange, Pink, or Purple for $64.95.

However, the company's also offering a Limited Edition DODOcase for the iPad 2, featuring a special design and available for $89.95 and for a limited time only.

“The DODOcase philosophy has always been about manufacturing local and keeping the art of book binding alive” said Craig Dalton, co founder and President of DODOcase, who also added that “we’re ecstatic to have the opportunity to support that philosophy by offering some great local and national non-profits our support through individual’s purchase of a DODOcase for the iPad 2!”
