Developer Gearbox has said that it will soon be talking some more about one of its most interesting future projects, Aliens: Colonial Marines, denying that the game has been delayed into next year and that no further news about it would be delivered in 2011.

Randy Pitchford, who is the leader of Gearbox, has told Eurogamer that, “I am certain that I haven’t discussed anything specific regarding Aliens: Colonial Marines with anyone beyond emphasizing how passionate I am about the title and how committed my studio and I are to making it great.”

He was responding to a rumor that originated on the NeoGAF forums that the game would be again delayed and that the company was not ready to talk about it this year.

Pitchford added, “I am excited that there is so much interest in the game that stories like this tend to pop up literally out of nowhere and from nothing, and I am looking forward to talking more about Aliens: Colonial Marines very soon so that speculation and arbitrariness can be replaced with tangible, reliable and accurate information.”

It's not clear when Gearbox could deliver more information on its video game, but “soon” in the video game public relations speak could refer to any date between now and the E3 trade show.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is set to be a squad-based first-person shooter with strong cooperative elements, where players can take on the role of one heavily specialized Marine that needs to work closely with his buddies in order to escape the xenomorph threat.

The game has been in development since 2006 and publishing duties will be handled by SEGA.

Aliens: Colonial Marines is set to be launched on the PC, the PlayStation 3 from Sony and the Xbox 360 from Microsoft with a Nintendo DS version of the game also apparently in development.
